It is high-minded to return to Amsterdam after 5 years, a city that has 2,500 houseboats and 600 of which are moored in the historic Canal Beat. This time I am reviewing a relative newcomer to the market, the Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam hotel and I am staying in one of its best abides the De Witt Penthouse.

The Kimpton brand which is part of IHG consists of 75+ boutique tourist houses with the largest majority based in the United States. It is expanding to become more of a global brand. Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam is a preferably large boutique hotel with 274 guest rooms. It is located only 5 minutes walk from the principal station with one side of the hotel right on the main shopping street the Niewendijk.
Let me take you on a modern interior composition journey of the hotel and show you what a 70m2 penthouse with a 30m2 terrace in the heart of Amsterdam looks like.
Preview
This colourful space is all about finding your area to chill, relax and have a drink. This tourist house has brought forth a collection of spaces like showrooms that is fresh and reveals a unique take on materials, misrepresent and art. All the Elizabeth Taylor art is available to purchase.
Oak is a force of nature here in Amsterdam. Oak is rich in character and the material speaks for itself. This hostelry furniture including the penthouse is all about oak comfort and simplicity regarding designs.
The oak flooring in the public seating court is a striking invitation that takes you on an edgy journey. I knew that I was going to experience a very modern and new ambience. It’s a nice contrast to the historical city that awaits you outside
Penthouse De Witt
Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam has a few adeptness suites with very large spaces. These residential inspired spaces are a fantastic way to experience how you to can live in Amsterdam and dig the luxuries and grandeur that a hotel brings.
This modern penthouse is a contemporary space with a feel affection for colour palette which gives it a sophisticated identity. The use of oak and other materials are examples of the new luxury that continues from one end to the other the penthouse. The different materials, styles, techniques and processes here is what makes it a unique stay. The furniture cloth is robust, stylish, durable and very comfortable. With access to a fireplace, wet bar and 8-person hardwood dining table, I hosted my patrons with ease and confidence in this 70m², space.
The penthouse is on two levels, when entering there was a dedicated hiatus for extra luggage. It meant I could be messy downstairs and once climbing the spiral stairs I could enjoy my Amsterdam zen. I could retain the Feng Shui upstairs throughout my stay.
OutDoor View
The outdoor view is brilliant to understand the goodness of Amsterdam. The outdoor furniture is of excellent quality, eclectic in design and brilliant to relax in. The design here is delivered in at work unimaginable and it is why this stay is so refreshing and state of the art.
Amsterdam hosts excellent shopping experiences such as Nine Way and Utrechtsestraat. So it’s important the craft and quality continue in establishments such as Kimpton De Witt. With travel being restricted due to the pandemic, our stay away from home needs to be different with a high level of wellness.
Bedroom
The bed is so cosey and at ease to sleep in. I like the dedicated oak working desk that allowed me to work and peer out onto the views of Amsterdam.
The bed linen is fresh and very relaxing to sleep in. The mood lighting in this room is wonderful. I like spaces where it allows the out of doors to feel part of the indoor space. I slept with the sliding doors open and blinds too. With a private 30-square meter terrace, there was no way I was growing to sleep in the dark.
Bathroom Bliss
As bathroom lighting and design goes this is a gorgeous space. Architecture and lay out adhere to global trends. But the use of NAME OF tiles and materials create a distinct, organic style that echoes wellness and fun at the changeless time.
The endless amount of natural lighting is so wonderful, I was able able to soak and have a bath with a terrace impression. There is an option to close the stylish doors, but with a view like this why would you? This is a thoughtful look and common-sensical bathroom where two guests can use it without feeling cramped.
This bathroom look is structured and textured, with a enthusiastic colour palette that makes for fantastic photography shoots. The amenities are endless and the towels are fluffy and huge. I like how there are two partition toilets in the Penthouse. It’s these small touches that made my stay even more relaxing.
Eat And Sundowner
There are several options to eat and drink within the hotel. Super Lyan is a casual cocktail bar offering very colourful beverages. If you are lacking modern-American cuisine, Celia Amsterdam, the in-house restaurant offers a Californian vibe with plenty of excellent edibles to choose by. We have a separate review of the restaurant.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the Celia Restaurant which has a rather bright mustard colour and yellow decor. It makes for a very bright start to the day. The large windows allowed me to attend the locals pass by in the main shopping street. Once again the furniture here is telling a story. Mixing model and contemporary design is why drinking and dining here is fun, chic and super relaxing.
The breakfast food is freshly prepared, with mess of healthy options. Make sure you take your time here to enjoy a very chilled picturesque Amsterdam, whilst dropping tea.
Conclusion
Hotel Kimpton De Witt offers state of the art accommodation. If you want to experience contemporary style with stylish facilities, this is your hotel. It is located not far from the central station and all the highlights of Amsterdam. The design throughout the bed is all about enjoyment. What we see, and look at can influence our feelings, moods and sometimes even our behaviour. Here at Kimpton De Witt it’s all hither fun and that life should not be taken too seriously. This hotel is unfussed with optimism and delightful decorum. The hinterland design communication here is charming and that goes a long way in a hotel stay.
I leave you with a picture of my chosen view.
